This week it's the DC Special! As with last week, the homework is: what memories of DC Comics do you guys have, in any medium? Big fan of JLU, or Batman the Animated Series? Can you remember Filmation's Shazam? Was Christopher Reeve you definitive Superman, or did you prefer Keaton's Batsy? We must know!

I put in quite a lot of effort to get my mum to rent Tim Burton's Batman when it came out on video. I had to explain that it had a 15 certificate because when it came out at the cinema the 12 rating had been created for it, but they still only had PG or 15 on videos. So while I was still younger, it was really only a BIT younger... Then when I watched it I felt like I'd already seen it anyway because I'd read the trading cards and comic adaptation so many times!

Oh, and I thought it was funny that another superhero movie got the BBFC to change the 12 rating to 12A (Spider-Man) -- the power of marketing and pressure from parents who think a superhero film must be for kids, regardless of content guidelines! I wonder if the Toxic Crusaders cartoon led to many traumatised kids or enraged parents who subsequently found the movies...

The only comics I collected in the 80s were the Thundercats and TMNT neither of them being DC, and I didn't really watch movies back then (my attention span was too short) so... My only real exposure to DC was the Adam West Batman TV show, so he was my Batman. I do vaguely remember seeing Superman in some form of live-action, I can't tell you which one it was probably Christopher Reeve. I thought every Superman was Christopher Reeve, at that time, and for quite a while after.
