From a universe as huge as the MOTU, this is a toughie, I know. But still, who is you favourite hero, and who's your favourite villain?
Strange one, I know. But I always had a soft spot for Manny when I was a nipper, mainly because of the horrific story he got in the minicomics. To be kidnapped by Skeletor and have his other personalities is the stuff of nightmares, and completely disturbing for a 7 year old. Which would probably explain why I LOVED it. And why I loved the toy, too, I mean, to have essentially 3 figures in 1 is completely cool. I do have the vintage and classics versions of the toy, which is pretty badass in my estimation.
Next, we have a villain:
It was always going to be him, wasn't it? Hands down, my favourite villain, in any franchise, EVER. I love Skeletor. True, he lost his lustre a little in seaeon 2 of the Filmation show, but in the minicomics, move and MYP series, Skeletor was always a credible threat. Not only credible, but in MYP he was downright DANGEROUS. Don't believe me? Go back and watch. He was a badass in that show.
Given that I have just finished watching The New Adventures of He-Man as well as watched 50 episode of She-Ra over the past week, I thought I would drop my favourite characters from the shows.
This is a tough one as with both shows none of the heroes have really stood out as favourites as of yet. I shall leave this one blank for now and fill in once someone does.
She-Ra has been all about the villains for me. Some fun characters with Hordak being the obvious choice along with Mantenna, but for me it has to be Catra.
I don't know what it is about the character that stands out to me, but mainly I do love her voice. Melendy Britt does the voice so well, with lots of cat like meowing and hissing sounds. Maybe it reminds me of Sixties Catwoman from the old Adam West tv show. Her ability to transform into a giant purple cat is an interesting power,
I like the character so much that I was fortunate to find the MOTU classics version complete on ebay for £17 the other day, so while technically my second MOTUC purchase, she maybe the first I get my hand on. I also bough Zodak for £7 on the same night, but only as he was cheap and I just wanted to see what the MOTU classics figures were like for myself.
The New Adventures of He-Man
As with She-Ra I don't really have that stand out hero that I like in this series. There are some decent heroes but not one that really has that stand out character that makes me want a toy of them or really care.
The mutants are the real stars of the show, so a tough choice. Skeletor is fantastic, hilarious and even has a sense of humour. At first I hated his voice not sounding like teh Skeletor was all know and love, but I grew to love his evil William Shatner tones. Apparently the voice actor based him on Jack Nicholson's Joker, but I just hear Shatner.
Flogg is very entertaining as the idiotic mutant leader that just wants to conquer, yet is always being manipulated by Skeletor.
The real star of the series for me is Slush-Head. I don't know why there are so few pics of this great man on google. He is the buffoon who is evil, but also has a big heart. For some reason Flogg's second in command, and he even has an episode where he gets married.
