"Terrahawks, stay on this channel. This is an emergency!"
That's how it started every week, "Tiger" Ninestein heralding the beginning of another episode of Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr's TERRAHAWKS.
The last proper puppet show by Anderson, Terrahawks was a weird one. The puppets were weird - "Supermacromation" being the order of the day, where the puppeteers were bottom up rather than top down, more in the style of the Muppets. They were also made of latex (the puppets, not the puppeteers) and had a whole Uncanny Valley thing going on.
The setup was pretty standard Anderson though - aliens wanted to invade Earth, and threw a monster of the week at our heroes, the Terrahawks, Earth's last line of defence. And to cap it off, we even had a "computer simulation" (in reality line art by Rod Lord and the people who created the "computer simulation" for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) of Zeroids vs Martian Cubes.
What are YOUR memories of Terrahawks? Who was your favourite character? And did you want the Zeroids or the Cubes to win each week?
